Arch Rock - Up Close 60 X 48

I FINALLY finished this 5 Ft. X 4 Ft. landscape. These two rocks sit atop another rock in Valley of fire State Park.
I posted a wider view I did of this prior. This park has so many different shaped rocks or mountains it can be a series of it's own. It is a great place to picnic and hike. One of Las Vegas local secrets. It is actually about an hour and half or so north of Vegas, but I think of it as belonging to Vegas.
I would reccomend going there in the fall or spring NOT July or August ! It's a little HOT those months.

  1. Great job, Alston. I commented on ASB, as well. I'm ready for a fall trip up to Valley of Fire. I agree with you, I think of it as part of Vegas, as well.

Thank you so much for your kind and supportive comment on my recent blog. They mean so much to me.

Don't forget that this Friday is First Friday. Come check out my recent work in person. I'm at the same location.

  5. Great job on the rock surfaces! I'd love to see this painting in person - and the real place too - it looks really surreal.

  7. Thank you so much Debroah,
The place is incredible. The arch actually stands on top of another rock. My son is 6" 7" and I have a photo of him standing in the arch and he looks really small, that shows you how tall the arch is.Come on out for a visit and I will even be your " tour guide". but DON"T come in the summer ! ! ! !

I'm so happy I found your blog through Deborah's. I've enjoyed your comments on Artscuttlebutt.

This is a beautiful painting of the Arch. There are so many rich colors in that area and the HEAT too. Wow. Love this.

Looking forward to following your posts.

  11. Love your art work, so feminine and majestic. The arch from the Nevada state park reminds me so much of the scenery where I visited in Utah, Moab. Please e-mail me at duongmyha309@gmail.com
