The Prickly Pears outside our door are blooming again and they are such a welcome sight I can't resist painting them. Unfortunately they are so short lived. It's hard to imagine anything so beautiful coming out of that hard soil.

I saw this on Scuttlebutt and followed it to your blog. Really nice work. This is my first comment on a blog--hope it works.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled that you were interested enough to come to my blog.Thank you for your nice comment. I loved looking at your blog, I would LOVE to see your studio and shed ! I bet the things there could tell some "real stories".I understand what you mean about the harmonica story. We lived in South Carolina on what was at one time an old rice plantation and there are lots of ghost stories told there. Please come back for a visit.
ReplyDeleteAlston, this is beautiful! I think it is your best so far. EXCELLENT! -Don
ReplyDeleteThank you Don. It is so important to know that ones peers like their work, it means a lot to me. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Alston! The delicacy of the petals contrast very nicely with the prickly leaves.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Deborah. I love doing flowers. Cactus flowers last for such a short time but they are beautiful. They only last one day so you have to take a photo and paint from that ( I should say "I" have to because I'm not a fast painter.)
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
Hi Alston! I'm on scuttlebutt too! Thanks for posting a comment on my blog today there. This prickly pear is gorgeous! Planted some in my yard this summer, guess I'll get blooms next summer. You are an amazing painter!
