Valley of Fire State Park - Nevada24 X 18 Available
The name Las Vegas usually brings to mind, bright lights, show girls, casinos, gambling , glamour etc. which it is. However, we also have some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the country. We have Red Rock Canyon State Park and Valley of Fire State Park which are unbelievable. Because of the mineral content in the soil and rocks the colors are magnificent, and when the sun hits the mountains look out they are unreal looking colors.
I am doing a series of desert landscapes and this is the first in the series. Hope you like it.

ReplyDeleteAlston, you have captured the 'reds' in these rocks perfectly. My family and I love to camp out at Valley of Fire. One of my fondest memories of camping out there is of hiking at midnight with my oldest son under a full moon. We actually had moon-shadows and could see everything magnificently. I don't know that I've ever seen anything more surreal than those rocks, crags and mountains glowing from the moonlight. Regrettably, my description does not do the experience the justice it deserves. BTW, I still enjoy the casinos and showgirls, too. =) -Don

ReplyDeleteHow wonderful , your midnight hike with your son up there and those are memories you will never forget!Your description of thet evening makes me wish I could paint that scene.OH, I'm SHOCKED that you still like the casinos and the show girls, wink, wink =)
Thank you Robin. I really love the rocks and canyons too. It's hard to believe the colors are real, they are such a different landscape.
